Erika de Casier, They Hate Change

What’s up redshifters? We’re back, sorry about the delay. Do you like music? I thought so. Maybe listen to this then.

‘ice’ is a buttery-smooth R&B cut straight out of the 2000s playbook minus the cheese, with two verses from the They Hate Change (André Gainey and Vonne Parks) guys. Gainey’s bars aren’t even that good (Parks’ fare better). Doesn’t matter. ‘ice’ is one of the best things I’ve yet heard this year. We’re probably going to review the full record, Still, in a couple weeks’ time after it drops on February 21, and I reckon it will be top 5 of the year (!) but I just had to say something about this track now. Erika de Casier is so fucking cool it’s not funny and I will not be surprised in the slightest if she becomes viral pop royalty by the end of 2024. Long may she reign.
