Lyder

Somewhere in the boundless plains of the genreverse, techno meets jazz. Given their shared predilection for experimenting, this encounter was no chance accident. It was fated.

The steward of this gathering is Lyder: a three-piece outfit featuring Lindsey Wang (aka Polygonia), Niklas Bühler (aka Delusional Circuits aka FTP Doctor), and Moritz Stahl (aka odizouu).

The trio comes to the NTS airwaves bearing a host of untitled, unreleased goodies. Much like their ‘Vivacity’ release earlier this year, this oeuvre is replete with luscious sound design, Wang’s trance-like scatting, and revolving polyrhythms. The feelings evoked, predictably, are diverse. One feels deeply grounded in the roots of the artists’ influences, yet mysterious and non-physical in the hold of their electroacoustic synthesis.  

NTS Radio Resident and fellow soundscaper, GiGi FM, welcomes Lyder with some monthly celestial updates. November 22: a shift to a lighter, playful atmosphere that welcomes the embracing of new ideas. November 24: transition to a lighter atmosphere that provides clarity on lessons learnt. Her predictions are disarmingly accurate. I can only hope the same is true for her 2024 forecasts for Lyder releases on the Jazz-o-Tech and tunnel.visions labels.
